I only dream of a week like this

Hey there!

This is what my week looks like:

Monday – work – well, what were you expecting out of Monday, seriously?

Tuesday – work – really, I need to get the money from someplace!

Wednesday – Studio time! I go back to my producers to hear what my new track is sounding like. I only heard a small preview and I got really excited about it. It’s amazing how other people can translate your music and lyrics into sounds. When I write a song, I hear it in my head and it’s amazing…when I record a demo I try to get close to the amazement. Usually, when I opt not to produce the track myself, I expect the producers to surpass my ideas. Until now, they’ve managed. Lesnich, an exceptional drummer, will be joining to hear it out before he records his part on Saturday.

Thursday – yeah work again…

Friday – work, followed by a super exciting meeting with the animator for the video of this track! No seriously, Matt has been working his ass off to create a storyline for the video accompanying my track. The song has been on his playlist for the past two years and he got obsessed with it. He badgered me into releasing it, and I recruited him to spend hours in front of his Mac, creating a world from scratch. My meetings with him have taught me that magic can pass in people’s veins instead of blood.

Saturday – The drummer and I will hit the studio to record the drum track for the song. I don’t know how long this will take and have no idea what the procedure will entail, mostly because most of my releases so far have never featured a real drum kit… you’d excuse me since most of music is a good mix between dance and RnB. I decided to go for something different and reach back to my roots – I’m going pop-rock. I’ll then have some time to unwind with my friends. It’s only fair to end a great day in style.

Sunday – I will probably lie in an unconscious state until I get my energy back, only to return to work in the evening.

I’ll keep you posted :)

5 things you’d find on my Google reader

About a year ago I discovered this wonderful thing called ‘Google reader’ sitting on top of my Gmail account. It had been staring at me for ages never knowing what the hell it’s used for, then one day I decided to try it out…and from that day forward my life changed…well, maybe not, but now I read all my favourite blogs in one place. Here’s a list of some of the blogs I follow:

Logo Design Love – I originally bought the book with the same name, but the author decided to open a blog with his latest offerings. The blog revolves around branding and logo design. It’s not the best out there, but it got me started, and I remained a faithful follower.

Brand New – To keep updated with the latest branding news from all over the world, and what looks good or not, this is the blog to follow. Really interesting and to the point.

FFFound.com – This has to be the weirdest blog I follow. It’s simply a sequence of images from all around the web – mostly from creatives. When I need inspiration and new ideas to get my mind going, this is where I go.

REDWHITEmt – The only Maltese blog with real information about the art and design happening in Malta. It’s a very recent offering, and a very resourceful one. Follow it.

Engadget - I’m a guy, and this is a website about technological gadgets. Need I say more?

As you might have realised, I like design. I’m a graphic designer by profession, so the stuff above is my bread and butter. I hope they inspire you and prove to be useful!

Have a good week!
